ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Bob's career in making pottery, began in when he was 14 in Clairemont Ca. He was given the opportunity to study his craft with graduate students under the under the watchful eye of Paul Soldner.

He started his high school years throwing pots in his parents garage, then moved on to build his own kilns in a new studio in Cucamonga CA, with his best friend Stan Welch.

He then moved on to getting his BFA at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA. He received his Bacholers of arts in Glass blowing and ceramics in 1974. During these years he he befriended Peter Volkous, and learned the art of bronze casting while continuing making ceramics and glass blowing.

Bob helped crate the Berkley Art Foundry, where he cast art for contemporary Bay Artists while continuing his artistic career in ceramics and glass blowing. During this time he met Tina Davila, where they began to collaborate the artwork that would became Rabbit Artworks. Upon Graduation they moved to Northern New Mexico and built the legacy that is today, Rabbit Artworks.

Cristina was born in San Francisco, but grew up in rural Pennsylvania where she first saw Early American ceramics that were later to influence her own designs. Christina holds a B.F.A. in Painting from the California College of Arts and Crafts where she also studied printmaking and ceramics. Cristina's Mexican and Italian heritage is seen in her decorative style, especially her patterned boarders and whimsical subject matter.

“Drawing is a way of making things clear to myself, a way of explaining to myself how I see, and sort things out. It can be as involved or simple as I want. I am excited by the idea of creating a new reality or presence that wasn’t there until I created it. It’s always a surprise. Hopefully, the drawings are more than just surface decorations, and the shapes (of the pots) are more than empty space for the drawings. One should not detract from the other- the two parts should have a single presence.”
